Grenada Prepares To Host The 47th Regular Meeting Of CARICOM

The high leaders of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) begin to arrive this Sunday in the island of Granada to participate until next Tuesday of its 47th ordinary meeting and at which they will discuss topics such as agro-food, the climate crisis and sustainable development of the region.

The Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of regional leaders of the Caribbean will be held from July 28 to 30, 2024.
It will be this afternoon at Saint George University, where the Caricom general secretary, Carla Barnett, as well as the outgoing and incoming of the agency, Irfaan Ali and Dickon Mitchell, and the Prime Minister of Curaçao, Gilmar Pisas, address those present.
As CARICOM deepens regional integration through the Joint Environment Action Programme and other sectoral programmes, attention will be paid to the implementation of the Multilateral Air Services Agreement (MEA) The Commission proposal provides for a single market for air transport services within the Community.
In addition, the presidents will review the progress toward the goals for full free movement and the 25 percent reduction in food imports by 2025. A Strategy for Regional Digital Resilience 2025-2030 will also be on the table for discussion.
On Monday, the heads of government will hold business sessions at the Radisson Grenada Beach Resort, Grand Anse, where the Conference of these political leaders of CARICOM in 1989 signed the Grand Anse Declaration and Work Programme.
This document was signed with the intention of increasing political and economic cooperation among the member states of Caricom, emphasizing sovereignty, non-interference and equitable principles.
